How to Prep Your Blanks for Heat Press with Cricut EasyPress

Are you ready to take your crafting to the next level with Cricut EasyPress? Properly prepping your blanks before pressing is crucial for a successful and long-lasting transfer. Whether you\’re working with iron-on materials like HTV or Infusible Ink, we\’ve got you covered with essential tips to ensure your designs come out flawless.

Preparing for Iron-On (HTV)

Prewash Your Blanks

Before starting your project, it\’s important to prewash your fabric blanks such as t-shirts, hoodies, or jeans. This step helps to pre-shrink the garment and remove any chemicals that could affect adhesion. Remember to skip the fabric softener and ensure your blanks are clean and completely dry before transferring your design.

Preheat Your Blank

Follow the preheating instructions provided in the Cricut Heat app. Preheating helps to eliminate wrinkles and any residual chemicals or moisture that might hinder the transfer process.

Preparing for Infusible Ink

Skip the Prewash

Unlike iron-on projects, we do not recommend prewashing fabric blanks for Infusible Ink transfers. Pre-washing could lead to an accumulation of lint on the blank, which may interfere with the transfer process.

Lint Roll Your Blanks

Lint fibers are often present on fabrics and hard blanks like coasters. Use a lint roller to thoroughly remove any lint, especially in areas that will come into contact with the heat plate. This prevents lint or debris from causing unwanted speckles in your design.

Preheat Your Blank

Just like with iron-on projects, make sure to preheat your blank according to the instructions in the Cricut Heat app. Preheating removes wrinkles, chemicals, and excess moisture that could impact the transfer. Skipping this step may result in unwanted effects due to excess moisture turning into steam during the transfer process.

Once your blanks are prepped and ready, it\’s time to press your designs with confidence! Follow the guidelines in the Cricut Heat app for a seamless transfer process.
